New user looking for help - saving programs and loading files in the show

(1/1)

LucaG:
I've been using Radiologik Scheduler & DJ for a few weeks now, and they seem to be just the thing I needed on my little radio station. The music rotation works great specially with iTunes smart playlists. However there are some things that I haven't been able to figure out:

1. Is there another way to save a program than to build it on the program queue playlist and the save? Now I can only do it at night while the broadcast is stopped.

2. Is there a way to make the selector load a specific file, like a certain song? I'd like to add things like "Song of the week" or whatever "thing of the week" that I could add wherever I want to. Or if I would like to start my every Friday afternoon with the same song? Or sometimes play a whole album in a row? I wouldn't want to always be there and then manually add the files after Radiologik has first built the rest of the show.

Could someone here please help me with these questions?

Lane:
Hey Luca, welcome to the forum.

What I do for 1 is build a show at the end of the program that is running. I select the songs, and then save just that selection. Slightly awkward, but it works. You need to be careful you don't do that near the time the scheduler will run, and you need to remember to delete them after so they don't play right then.

For number 2, there are a couple of ways to do this. One is to use a load option in scheduler. The program you load can be just a single item. Or it could be a few songs, like a show theme and opener voice track etc. Another thing you can do it create an itunes playlist for these things. If you use a fill with unique items set and random off, it can grab each track from that playlist in order. Playing a whole album in a row could be done with either of those methods.  You won't need to be there at the time, but this would require you setting it at some point in advance.

There might be other ways to do these things, but that's what popped in to my head at first.

And feel free to ask. That's why we're here, to help each other!

LucaG:
Thanks Lane, that solved my problems!

I really hadn't thought of building a selection at the end of the program that's currently running.

Radiologik is great, I find myself learning new things every day. I guess I'll be spending some time here as well...  :)
