Hey everyone,
I'm starting up an internet radio stream that will exclusively play podcasts and other spoken word content. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out the best way to use Scheduler to pick various shows. Since the majority of shows are 1 hour+ it is having trouble filling a 2 hour block. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
Jason Thompson
I could use more info. What sort of troubles?
If you're trying to hit an exact 2 hours, I suppose you might need some flexible filler material, be it music or whatever. But nothing says you couldn't let it fall short, and let the next schedule start at that point. If you outlined the timing of your evening, maybe I could give some better advice.
I have several files including performance based material and spoken word, that are in the 70 to 90 minute range. RLS allows for 90 or 120 minutes but I go for 120 and use a mix of midtros (you're listening to ....) and a fill from a relevant playlist to get close to the 120 mark, usually 115 to 118 minutes. As Lane mentions I start the next segment with a filler to TOTH using a playlist of fillers ranging in length from 10 secs to 8 minutes. That works fine for us.
